Bausch & Lomb Microscope & Case - This exceptional turn-of-the-century monocular microscope set, crafted by the historic American manufacturer Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. of Rochester, New York, serves as a magnificent testament to early scientific innovation. The instrument features a heavily enameled black cast iron horseshoe base with a gleaming brass and nickel-plated optical body tube, sub-stage mirror, and a mechanical glass stage. Housed in its original, finely jointed mahogany carrying case with a brass top handle and side-lock key, this complete set includes two extra eyepieces, four brass objective lens canisters (marked with fractions such as ”1/6” and ”2/3”), an integrated interior accessory drawer, a loose optical bracket part, and a vintage glass biological specimen slide. The unit is in excellent antique condition, showing minor superficial edge wear and surface scuffs to the wooden cabinet, light tarnish on the brass components, and minimal paint loss on the heavy base, all while retaining strong structural integrity and fully functional mechanical movement. H 12.5”, W 7.5”, D 6.0”. From the collection of Dale Beeks. Please see photos for condition.
