Roche Electric Quack Shock Machine - An intriguing piece of early 20th-century electrotherapy history, this antique quack medical apparatus was manufactured by the Roche Electric Machine Co. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, under patent date January 19, 1915 (No. 1125913). Housed in an quartersawn oak fold-out carrying case, the unit features a central induction coil mechanism, twin dry battery cell compartments, wiring, hand wand electrode, foot plates on the drop-down board, wire brush, and comb attachments. Condition is fair to good for its age; wood case shows surface scuffing, finish wear, paper label residue to interior side walls, and light tarnishing on metal hardware, with fraying to cloth-covered wiring cords and oxidation on metal attachments. H 14.5”, W 17.5”, D 5.5”. Please see photos for condition.
