Antique Leather & Wood Prosthetic Leg W/Stand - This fascinating piece of medical history is an early-to-mid 20th-century prosthetic lower leg and foot, beautifully crafted from molded fiberboard, carved wood, and rich brown leather accents. It features a perforated upper sleeve for ventilation, an adjustable lace-up leather calf wrap, and a heavy-duty top leather strap secured with a metal roller buckle. The foot portion is covered in smooth brown leather, while the sole reveals an early textured composite or felted material built around a sturdy iron mechanical ankle joint visible on the bottom. The entire assembly sits securely on its included black metal display stand. Given the materials and construction techniques, this artifact likely dates from the WWI to post-WWII era, a period that saw rapid advancement in orthopedic design. Showing its age gracefully, the prosthetic displays an authentic patina with minor scuffs, light surface abrasions, and minor flaking to the composite material on the underside of the sole, but the leather remains surprisingly supple and structural integrity is excellent.
