Keuffel & Esser Surveying Aneroid - This professional-grade ”Improved Surveying Aneroid” barometer, manufactured for the renowned firm Keuffel & Esser Co. of New York and crafted in England, likely dates to the early 20th century (c. 1905–1920). Representing the pinnacle of early precision engineering, it features a compensated movement for temperature fluctuations and a sophisticated swinging magnifying lens for precise readings of barometric pressure and altitude. This brass-cased instrument is a remarkable relic of the surveying era; notably, the leather case bears the hand-scratched inventory number ”2E533,” adding a layer of authentic field provenance. While the brass housing and dial remain in excellent aesthetic condition, the original leather carrying case shows significant age-consistent wear, including a partial loss of the leather covering on the buckle and a functional but non-professional repair to the strap. H 6.5”, W 5.25”, D 3.25”. Please see photos for condition. From the Dale Beeks collection.
