1940 E.R. Watts & Son Brass Theodolite - This is a magnificent example of British precision engineering: a 1940-dated brass vernier theodolite manufactured by the prestigious E.R. Watts & Son of London. A true wartime instrument, it features the distinct ”War Finish” stamping and the British Broad Arrow military mark, alongside serial number 20916 and model B 273. The craftsmanship is evident in the intricate adjustment knobs, silvered scales, and the internal optics of the telescope. Historically, these were the workhorses of the Royal Engineers for surveying and artillery positioning. The instrument appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a rich, aged patina to the brass and minor surface oxidation consistent with its age; the optics appear clear and the original lens cap is included.
