Victorian Tabletop Optical Magnifier Stand - This fascinating antique optical reading and display stand exhibits exceptional Victorian craftsmanship, featuring a cast metal with a central vertical post holding a circular secondary filter lens, and a pivoting wooden viewing housing with an integrated shade. Also mounted is a separate matching magnifying glass measuring 9 inches long with a 4-inch lens diameter. Original finish is evident where it has been inserted in its holder retaining a bright, unoxidized nickel-plated finish. Condition-wise, the glass lenses remain in good, clear condition free of major cracks or scratches, and the metal framework shows a pleasing aged patina; however, the textile material on the silk upper portion of the domed base displays significant age-related wear, featuring fading and shattered silk throughout the fabric.
