Antique Physics Leyden Jars, Set of 2 - These historic scientific instruments are 19th-century Leyden jars, the earliest form of an electrical capacitor used to store high-voltage electric charges in early physics laboratories. The larger jar features a classic brass-clad base with an elongated brass rod fed through a cork stopper, connected internally via a metal chain. The second, slightly shorter jar utilizes a lead or tin foil exterior coating wrapped around the glass body, topped with a finished wooden cap and a brass terminal sphere. Both pieces show authentic age-related wear, including heavy oxidation, tarnishing, and surface scratching on the metal elements, alongside minor degradation to the cork and wood, and flaking/scuffing on the foil wrapping; however, both glass vessels remain structurally intact without any major cracks or chips.
