Antique Oak & Marble Apothecary Scale - An exceptional turn-of-the-century apothecary or counter scale featuring a hand-carved oak base with incised geometric diamond-and-star patterns, topped with a heavy, polished reddish-brown variegated marble slab housing two brass weighing pans. The front panel features a circular brass-rimmed glass window revealing the dual balance pointers. The marble top retains a historical paper seal from the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture State Sealer of Weights and Measures. The item shows age-appropriate surface wear, including staining and finish wear on the wooden base, heavy verdigris patina, oxidation, and tarnish on the metal pans, and light scratches to the marble top, though it remains structurally sound with a functional balance mechanism.
