Vintage Dietzgen Surveyors Grade Rod Set - This is a professional-grade surveying kit featuring a heavy-duty folding leveling rod and a specialized spring-loaded sighting or mounting base. The primary rod is a classic Dietzgen 6562, crafted from durable hardwood with brass hinges and a bold, stylized ”sawtooth” graduation pattern designed for high visibility through a surveyor’s transit or level. The secondary wooden component features a robust cast-iron spring-loaded mechanism and an adjustable bracket, likely used as a base or specialized target holder for precise topographical measurements. Both pieces show authentic field wear consistent with mid-20th-century engineering use, including minor scuffs, paint loss on the graduations, and surface patina on the iron hardware, but the wood remains structurally sound and the hinge action is functional.
