American Electric Candlestick Phone - An early 20th-century American Electric Company upright candlestick desk telephone manufactured in Chicago, Illinois. Constructed with a classic black finish over a heavy steel base and stem, featuring a matching transmitter, side-hung hard rubber receiver bearing patent dates ranging from 1899 to 1900, and an original woven cloth-wrapped wiring cord terminating in metal pin connectors. The underside of the base retains clear stamped markings reading ”American Electric Chicago * Patented and Made in U.S.A.” The telephone is in good original antique condition, displaying authentic age-appropriate finish wear, scuffing, and minor paint loss, with light fraying along the vintage cloth cord.
