Bidspirit auction | Framed Abraham Lincoln M.P. Rice

Framed Abraham Lincoln M.P. Rice Print - This exceptional, late 19th to early 20th-century framed portrait captures the iconic Alexander Gardner ”last photograph” image of President Abraham Lincoln, printed from the original negative by noted Washington, D.C. photographer Moses P. Rice. As visible on the bottom right corner featuring the distinctive handwritten-style inscription, ”Copyright by M.P. Rice.” This powerful, high-contrast bust-length image beautifully highlights Lincoln's weathered expression, framed elegantly in a classic period wooden frame with a gilded inner lip and custom matting. Objectively assessing the item's physical condition, the portrait shows minor spotting and silvering typical of age, while the matting exhibits light, uniform yellowing; the wooden frame displays some minor surface scuffs and edge wear, but remains structurally sound and retains its protective glazing. H 27.5”, W 22.5”, D 2”. Please see photos for condition. From the Dale Beeks collection.
