2 Daguerreotypes 1/6 Plate & Brooch - Lot of 2 Dag images one being an oval gem size image of an older well dressed man mounted as a brooch in a silver plated case. The pin for the brooch is missing. Also includes an uncase image of a well dressed bearded gentleman wearing a tall top hat. Matte stamped A.J. Beals 156 Broadway. The image has been resealed with archival tape. In 1846, Dr. Albert J. Beals partnered with Henry Sherman Beals to open a photography studio at 156 Broadway. They worked together at various New York addresses until 1847. In 1850, Albert returned to the 156 Broadway address alone, running it as a highly successful independent daguerreotype gallery until 1856. During his time at 156 Broadway, his portrait work earned enough acclaim to be featured at the historic 1853 Crystal Palace Exhibition. See photos. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
