Otto Flemming Faradic Battery No. 3 - This exceptional late 19th-century medical quackery device is an Otto Flemming Faradic Battery No. 3, manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and boasting a patent date of June 23, 1885. Housed in its highly appealing, rich mahogany-stained wooden case, this historical electro-therapy unit features an intricate brass, steel, and early composite control panel, internal metal plate components, an adjustable graduated induction rod, and a built-in lower drawer containing the original key, red-insulated cloth wiring cords, and wooden handles with wet sponge skin electrodes. Objectively assessed, the wood case exhibits fine structural integrity with typical light surface scratches, localized scuffs, and minor edge wear consistent with age, while the interior components show expected superficial oxidation, battery plate residue, and mild patina to the brass elements.
