Victorian S. Maw Son & Thompson Mortar Set (4) - A fine Victorian-era pharmaceutical apothecary set featuring a heavy ceramic mortar bowl accompanied by three turned wood and ceramic pestles. Manufactured by S. Maw, Son & Thompson of London, England, as identified by the stamped trademark on the underside, this late 19th-century collection highlights classic British medical craftsmanship. The mortar bowl features a spouted rim, and two pestles bear impressed sizing numbers (”8” and ”3”). Condition is good for its age and utilitarian history, showing expected surface staining, light scuffing, and an older small chip along the rim lip of the bowl. H 6”, W 11.5”, D 1'.
