J.H. Bunnell Telegraph Key & Sounder - An excellent late 19th to early 20th-century telegraph key and sounder combination mounted on a finished wooden base, manufactured by J.H. Bunnell & Co. of New York, USA. The unit features heavy brass components, a steel lever, terminal posts, dual electromagnetic coils wrapped in black pebbled covers, and an integrated circuit-closing lever with a black Bakelite/hard rubber knob. The wooden base is stamped ”4 OHMS” and ”PATENTED”, while the brass frame is stamped ”J.H. BUNNELL & CO. NEW YORK U.S.A.” The piece is in good original antique condition showing age-appropriate patina, surface oxidation on steel parts, light wear and scratches to the wood finish, and minor dust build-up, though it is missing the tension spring underneath the lever; original wiring remains present on the underside.
