Magic Lantern Projector Lamp w/Oil Lamp Base - This fascinating antique optical projection piece merges a metal upper magic lantern housing with a vibrant blue glass oil lamp base featuring a floral plant motif, attributed to Odin Merlo. The upper portion serves as the projection unit with a side-mounted lens barrel and decorative lion head ring accents, illuminated by the lower oil reservoir source. Although these components were not originally made for one another, they are fully compatible for use. The lot also includes an extra loose lens measuring approximately 2 1/8 inches in diameter, which can serve as a functional stopgap within the 2.25-inch diameter projector housing. Physical condition shows a normal vintage patina, minor dents on the top cap, a noticeable chip and crack visible at the collar just below the glass bowl fixture, and heavy oxidation to the rear internal reflective portion.
