Antique Eagle Pommel Saddle, Blanket, Braided Tack - This ensemble features a late 19th-century Western ”half-seat” saddle characterized by a striking cast brass eagle head pommel, a motif often associated with fraternal organizations or patriotic parade gear of the Victorian era. The leather exhibits period-correct border stamping and a prominent horseshoe embossed on the seat, likely manufactured in a regional hub like St. Louis or Jefferson City. The lot is completed by a hand-braided rawhide bridle with a traditional iron curb bit and a woven Saltillo-style saddle blanket with hole in center of one end. The condition is ”attic-found” and weathered: the leather is heavily desiccated with significant cracking and some structural loss to the rigging; the brass has a dark, uncleaned patina, and the textile shows moderate edge wear and staining.
