Bidspirit auction | Beaded Native American Plains War

Beaded Native American Plains War Club - This striking Plains-style war club represents a fine example of traditional craftsmanship, featuring a stone head securely encased in stitched rawhide. The wooden shaft is meticulously adorned with intricate seed beadwork in a rhythmic pattern of red, white, and blue, transitioning to a solid turquoise field near the grip. A vibrant red felt cuff sits beneath the head, accented by rows of blue glass beads. The base of the handle is wrapped in sinew-stitched leather, terminating in a long, dark horsehair drop that would have provided impressive movement during use. The item shows significant age-related wear, including some loss and fading to the felt, minor bead loss, and heavy patination and stiffening of the leather components. Total length approx. 30”, shaft 16”, head H 3.5”, W 2.5”, D 2.25”. Please see photos for condition.
