Bidspirit auction | WWI and Earlier US M1910

WWI and Earlier US M1910 Pickaxe W/Carrier - US M1910 pickaxe w/handle and cotton duck carrier. This is a true WWI and possibly earlier survivor in that it is only stamped “US” on the pickaxe and wooden handle, unlike the later WWII versions that had multiple makers marks and dates. The hickory handle is complete with some chips and nicks where the head would mount. There is also a crack at the top that is approx. 2.5” long. Traces of the original OD green paint are found predominantly on the upper portion of the handle. The grip section of the hickory wood handle has a beautiful rich color from being handled for many years. About 4” from the top, you can see “U.S.” stamped into the wood. The carrier is cotton duck and unmarked. It is unmarked, appropriately for WWI and earlier gear like this. It is in unissued condition and a beautiful addition to any WWI soldiers kit. Handle measures 17” long. Pick axe is 13.5 x 2.25” x 2”. Please see photos.
