French Chassepot bayonet sword 1873 W/Scabbard - Original French Chassepot bayonet sword dated 1873 with matching scabbard and leather frog (modern manufacture likely). Nice clean blade, sharp, nice point. Marked on top “St Etienne Janueir 1873”. Blade length 23.75”. Overall 27.5”. Wood grips in good shape, with some scuffs and nicks. Functional bayonet catch. Quillon stamped w/ inspection marks and “P 61354”. Scabbard is matching and stamped “P 61354” . Scabbard clean with spots of surface rust near the throat, it is straight with no dents or creases, and has most of its blued finish Measures 23.25” long. A classic relic of post-Franco-Prussian War Europe, ideal for any militaria collection. See photos.
