US M1 Helmet. Canteen, Machete - US Military gear dating from WWII to Cold War. 1) M1 helmet and Liner. Helmet stamped “557A” and “S” inside front. Rear seam. Some shallow dents in surface, but very clean and retains its painted cork surface. Chin strap present. Liner is marked “Micarta 1952” Suspension straps in good condition, dated 1953. Leather worn on left side. Some holes in liner, but not detrimental. No cracks. Reversible tan and od camouflage cover marked “DSA -1-1940-63-C 8415-261-6833 -6-” Some wear through where helmet rim abraded edge, but overall good, honest wear. 2) US Canteen, mixed eras. The removable cover is Cold War era, modern, undated. The aluminum canteen is stamped “U.S. MIRRO 1953” Good condition with one dent. Complete with cap, chain and cork. The cup, is salty on the inside, but clean outside. Marked “U.S. K.M.Co 1942” on handle. 3) Black nylon web belt is modern Cold War or after era. 33.5” long 2.5” wide and adjustable. 4)Machete is unmarked, and unissued modern manufacture. Plastic grips. 22.5” long overall, 17” cutting edge. In od green nylon sheath. A nice way to build your WWII/Korean/Vietnam gear collection with a nice machete to tackle the jungle in the backyard.
