WWI M1917, WWII M1917A1, Civil Defense Helmets - Group of four helmets. Two M1917 WWI, an early M1940 WWII and a Civil Defense helmet. The two M1917 helmets retain their original rough finish for the most part. The first M1917 helmet has no liner [fragmentary] , a nice even original surface finish and is stamped “ZC **” last two characters obscured. The second M1917 helmet retains the original liner pad, but nothing else. The crown is mildly dented, but retains an honest patina. Neither look to have been fussed with, making them good candidates to sit as they are in your collection or install a new repro liner for display. The third helmet is an M1917A1 model. Stamped “CL/C 1942” inside. Missing the chin strap loops. Looks to have been cleaned and repainted. The Civil Defense helmet retains its original suspension straps [partially broken, stained]. Remnants of decal roundel on front. Stamped interior “U.S. GOVT PROPERTY O.C.D.” Each of these helmets measure approximately 11.25” x12.25” x 5” The Civil Defense helmet measures approximately 12”x13”x6”. Please see photos.
