Low S/N Type 90 Double-Barrel Flare Pistol - An excellent example of an Imperial Japanese Navy Type 90 Double-Barrel Flare Pistol manufactured by Kayaba Kogyo Mfg. Co. The frame is clearly marked with the patent markings ”P A T” over ”93006” and ”NO 101355”, which are specific to Kayaba's design for the Type 90. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number 0251, placing it at an early production date and one of five known pistols with a ”0” at the beginning of the serial number. The rear of the left side of the frame has a two-position safety lever, with the upper position marked with a red kanji for “Fire” and the bottom position marked with a white kanji for “Safe”. The top of the barrel cluster is marked with the Kayaba logo, the Japanese Naval star and inspector’s marks, all in a straight line. The pistol is marked throughout with assembly number 122. The pistol retains much of its original finish but displays field wear including scratching, scuffing, and minor pitting/surface patina. The action is mechanically sound. Please see photos for overall condition. Part of the John Bannister Collection. H 7”, L 7.5”, D 2.75”.
