This is the 2nd generation of the Mills ”Electricity Is Life” coin op machine from about 1904. ”Electricity Will Do It” came out in the late teens and was aimed at men and suggested that a charge of electricity would improve one's manhood. The graphics on the large tin litho under glass dial with arrow depicts images of manly activities such as football, baseball, and auto racing. The center graphic shows a young man and woman sitting on a sofa giving each other the eye. Indeed the sexual message comes through loud and clear with the highest score being, ”You've got it. Go after them hard!”. It uses the same oak cabinet and mechanism as the earlier version. A large electric coil visible under glass powered by a 1.5V dry cell has 2 external handles that allows the user to increase the current delivered to the handles by pulling them wide. The coil is mounted on a cast copper oxidized plaque depicting Benjamin Franklin flying a kite surround by electric bolts. There are less than 10 of these machines known to exist making them very rare. This machine has an older restoration and is in very good condition. Measures 78” tall, 27” wide, 23” deep.
