Revolutionary War British Issued Crescent Canteen - Revolutionary War British issue crescent canteen. This style of canteen was used extensively from the Seven Years War, the American Revolution, and the War of 1812 and later. Original tinned construction, in excellent condition for its age. Measures 4-1/2” wide, 3-1/4” deep, 7” tall body and 1-1/2” neck. There are a dozen or so pinholes in the metal on the concave rear as well as on its base. The carrying strap side loops are firmly affixed and none of the seams are separating or are compromised. The patina on the piece is even and dark from the years. The original wooden plug is missing and a cork stopper is in its place. There are no markings on any surface of the canteen. A beautiful piece that would look great in a Revolutionary War display.
