WWII SSGT Emil Boyda 788th Amphibious BN PTO - Uniform grouping obtained from the son of the veteran. Staff Sgt Emil Boyda started the war in the 6th Armored Division and trained in tanks. He was transferred to the Amphibious Corps, and trained in landing assault craft. The 788th was among the first to land on Saipan, Okinawa, and Guam. Includes 4 pocket wool coat with 788th BN shoulder sleeve insignia. He earned a Marine Presidential Citation for landing Marines on the islands, a Philippine Liberation medal, Good Conduct medal, American Defense medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal w/ 3 campaign stars and bronze arrowhead. Also has a army sharpshooter qualification badge, and Ruptured Duck patch on chest. Coat dated Oct 3, 1941 and Size 38R. Wool shirt dated Mar 16, 1945, size 14-1/2 , 32. Necktie. Comes with a fair amount of background information on the unit as well in folder.
