Vietnam Coastal Patrol Jacket, Patches, Mask, Book - DIVE DIVE DIVE! A collection of items for above, and below the waves. 1) A 1960's manufacture Type L2b Light Flying Jacket with patches affixed for service flying in the US Navy Patrol squadron VP-22 Blue Geese, flying P-3 Orion aircraft. On 23 April 1966, the squadron deployed to Naval Station Sangley Point, Philippines, for duty with the 7th Fleet in Operation Market Time, coastal patrol operations off the coast of South Vietnam. A detachment operated from Cam Ranh Bay Air Base, Vietnam, with VP-42. Five period sewn patches on this large size jacket. Clean, displays well. 2) Vintage Balfour made Shaving Mug for the Submarine USS Piper. USS Piper (SS/AGSS-409), a Balao-class submarine, built late in World War II, it completed three successful war patrols before the cessation of hostilities, operating as a life guard for plane strikes and as an advance picket for fast carrier task forces. Decommissioned 1967. 3) USN MK 1 gas mask with canister. Carrying case has significant damage, but mask is in excellent condition. Dated 1945. 4) Soft cover book on ”US Subs in action”. 5) Patches, 10 in all, new, and submarine related.
