WWII USMC Code Talkers, Uniforms, 9 Auto's, Books - Presented here is a fascinating collection of USMC Navajo Code talkers uniforms, photos and resources. Of the estimated 400 to 500 Code Talkers who served in WWII, there are only 2 left as of 2024. Collected over the years by the consignor and used in educational displays it includes 1) USMC HBT combat shirt belonged to and signed by Navajo Code Talker Alfred K. Newman, 3rd Marine Div. Guam, Bougainville, Iwo Jima. Accompanied by framed photo of him signing and newspaper clipping. 2) A 4 pocket M1958 USMC wool uniform coat. PLL rank chevrons, Marine Raider shoulder sleeve insignia, Ribbon bars include BSM (w/V device), Navy Presidential Unit Citation (w/2 bronze stars), Navy Unit Commendation (w/2 bronze stars), Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (w/silver star and Bronze arrowhead). Acquired from Code Talker Robert Walley Sr.., 6th Marine Div. and was a Marine Raider, Bougainville, Guam, Okinawa and the occupation of Emirau Island. Khaki garrison cap with USMC screw back insignia. All accompanied by his autograph on note card. 3) Binder containing a US 48 star silk flag (11”x17”) that according to note ”Carried on Iwo Jima by John Kinsel, 9th Regiment, 3rd Marine Div.. Bougainville, Guam, Iwo Jima. Modern copy of grid map with notes of Iwo Jima in binder. 4) Selection of 6 books on Navajo Code Talkers, All signed by various Code talkers, (9 autographs in total) including: Albert Smith, Alfred Nerwman, Robert Walley Sr., Bill Toledo, Joe H. Kellwood, Dan Akee, Jack Morgan, Carl Gorman, Chester Nez, and Keats Begay. A wonderful collection for anyone interested in this group of Brave Warriors.
