Russ Nery Hand- Built Cylinder Phonograph - This machine was an attempt by a young Russ Nery in 1978 to make a working phonograph. Russ Nery of Sheboygan Wisconsin became passionate about music machines at an early age and would spend the rest of his life collecting and repairing all types of phonographs, music boxes, roller organs, and street organs. He was a founding member of the Wisconsin Phonograph Society, attended many shows, gave lectures, and operated the Antique Phonograph Repair Service in Sheboygan. Included with this machine is a 1978 photograph of Russ with his creation as well as several other photos of Russ through the years. He passed away in 2022. The hand crank mechanism of his creation appears to be a small bench grinder that still has its grinding wheel . It uses an off brand DISC phonograph reproducer and the horn appears to be some part of a lamp. One can only imagine if it truly worked and if so what kind of sound it reproduced!
