Barrel Reed Organ by Philipp De Ponti - Wein - This organ dates from approximately 1890. This machine in its oak cabinet has its original finish which is in fair condition, well worn with numerous scrapes, abrasions and staining from many years of use on the streets of Vienna. Cabinet features finger jointed construction with decorative brass reinforced corners. The hinged top cover appears to be a replacement and is of a different wood species. The crank operated barrel mechanism plays 24 notes, 6 tunes, and is pressure operated. Has evidence of an older in depth restoration of the mechanism but it plays well but may need some minor adjustment. The organ speaks through the front and this area is covered by a replacement decorative cloth. Cabinet measures 18” W X 13” D X 18” T.
