Vintage Tefillin Pieces and Pouch - Vintage Tefillin Pieces and Pouch. Three vintage tefillin, a blue velvet pouch, and a small red prayer book. One tefillin has a dark leather cubic box (bayit) mounted on a base (titura), with long black leather straps (retzuot) for binding to the arm or head, and contains a small handwritten parchment (parshiyot) inscribed with Torah passages; two additional tefillin are included. The blue velvet pouch has a gold-embroidered Star of David and the Hebrew word for tallit, and was owned by Phillip Gambel. The prayer book is from Sol Levinson & Bros., Inc., funeral directors in Baltimore, Maryland, and includes the Kaddish, Yizkor, prayers recited at the grave, and more.
