Group of 2 Guna Mola Panels Abstract Geometric - Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s 15 x 17.5 inches / 17.5 x 20.25 inches A group of 2 mola panels, each worked in 3 layers of hand reverse applique and applique. Panel 1: Two large peaked forms with triangular tops and rectangular bases stand side by side. They are filled with fret motifs in red, turquoise, yellow, and black, with small pink and purple accents, and a band of fret work runs along the lower edge. Panel 2: Stepped, interlocking forms build a dense labyrinth across the panel, each outlined in concentric bands of orange, red, and blue, with fine sawtooth edging, against a black ground.
