Vintage Burmese Kalaga Tapestry - Vintage Burmese Kalaga Tapestry. Vintage Burmese kalaga embroidered tapestry, 28” x 32”, substantial in weight from its dense decoration. A handcrafted traditional wall hanging with a raised applique figure riding an elephant, vibrant sequins, clear rhinestones, and intricate multicolored embroidery; birds occupy the four corners of the central panel. The kalaga art form dates to the Konbaung Dynasty in the mid-19th century. Rips and holes on the outer border, a few missing rhinestones, and loose threads.
