Vintage c1930s Four Block Floral Applique Quilt - Vintage c1930 Four Block Floral Applique Quilt. It measures 78 by 78 inches. It is comprised of 4 applique blocks, about 38 by 39 inches, set straight, 2 by 2. There is no pieced border, and the quilting alone defines an approximately 7 inch outer band worked in a running plume and scroll. Each block carries a branching green stem structure that runs from the outer corner in toward the center of the quilt, with a cluster of 4 rose five petal flowers with golden yellow centers at the inner end, red tulips with green calyxes at the stem tips, and yellow tulips worked along the branches. The applique fabrics are solid cottons in red, a medium green, a golden yellow, and a rose that has faded unevenly. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a plain white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with a narrow white binding. A later hand inked cotton label is stitched to the reverse reading c. 1930 Pennsylvania.
