Antique c1800 Toile Quilt measuring 80 by 86 inches. It is comprised of 3 monochromatic copperplate or early roller print toile fabrics. The center is a 60 by 60 square with a red print striped floral about 20 inches in selvedge width. 3 borders are of a tan large-scale floral print 10 to 13 inches wide. And the top has a 13 inch wide blue floral toile print with arrows, horn, quiver in a stripe arrangement. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is cotton batting and an off white linen reverse. The edge is finished with and applied tan toile binding. It is in good condition with a few small spots and discoloration and fading along the bottom. Some wear/tears on the reverse by the edge. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. This quilt can be seen on page 144 of "Vintage Quilts" co-authored by Bobbie Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer, quilt store co-owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
