Antique c1880 Cheater Print Quilt also known as faux patchwork or simulated patchwork print. Believed to be from PA. It measures 72x78". There is a 6" red print border. It is Hand pieced and hand quilted. With thin cotton batting and a mourning print stripe reverse, one small strip of indigo print. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back and applied by hand. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. It is in good condition with just a few small spots and minor dye migration. This quilt can be seen on page 21 of "Antique Quilts & Textiles" co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
