Antique c1870 Broken Dishes Variation Quilt measuring 71x71". Comprised of 17 complete blocks, 11.5x11.5", set on point, 3 by 6 , and staggered, with partial block setting triangles. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. It has thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished on 3 sides with a narrow applied binding, and knife edge finished across the top. The bottom corners have been created to fit a post bed. It is in good condition with some small spots and storage discoloration. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt, and signed by Bobby Aug. This quilt can be seen on page 88 of "Vintage Quilts" co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
