Antique c1920 Red Basket Quilt measuring 80 by 82 inches. It is comprised of 25 red basket blocks, 11 by 11 inches, set on point, 5 by 5, with Snowball blocks with red corners as setting squares and triangles. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding, by machine. There is a dealer tag attached to one corner stating Mrs. Wilson Hope, Arkansas. The quilt is constructed in a primitive manner but is quite charming and graphic. It is in fair condition with several spots, loose threads, faded stems, and red dye migration. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
