Vintage 1933 Hand Embroidered Quilt measures 74 x 72 inches. It is comprised of 9 hand embroidered blocks that were most likely stamped, measuring 16 x 16 inches, set straight, 3 by 3, with 2.75 inch all off white sash and 8.5 inch off white border. The border has similar hand embroidered motifs. It is machine pieced, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back and applied by hand. It is in fair condition with small spots and several large water marks along 2 borders. This embroidered motif is quite unique and I have been unable to identify its origins. The quilt is dated 1933, hand embroidered on a back corner. This quilt is part of the Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon was THE authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
