Friendship Star Quilt signed and dated by Mary Schafer 1991. It measures 78x91". Comprised of 30 blocks, 9x9", set on point, 6 by 6, with off white alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a 3" inner off white border, and a 5" floral print outer border. It is hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand embroidered. Thin polyester batting and off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied off white binding, by hand. This quilt is from the Mary Schafer Collection. Signed: “Mary Vida Schafer 1991.” MARY SCHAFER: AMERICAN QUILT MAKER pg 90: Photo. It is in very good condition. She was the quilter and collector from the book Mary Schafer - American Quilt Maker by Gwen Marston. There is a sleeve applied to the back top edge for hanging.
