Antique Chinese red silk banner measuring approximately 37 x 81 inches with an additional 10 inch fringe along the bottom. Four large Chinese characters made of velvet on cardboard are glued down the center. They are surrounded by nine Chinese male figures comprised of silk and paper mounted on cardboard with batting. Many of the elements are hand painted like the face and hand details. The beards may be actual hair. Figures are stitched onto the red silk. Along the bottom and the top are additional black velvet characters in a similar manner. The textile is backed in linen. Textile is in poor and very fragile condition with large splits in the silk, loss to some of the characters, loss to figures including top figure missing head, many are separating from the silk at various points. There is also spots, discoloration, and loss to the fringe. We do our best to describe all items in detail and provide pictures. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
