Dresden Porcelain Portrait Cabinet Plate of Queen Catherine de Medici - Rare Dresden Porcelain Portrait Cabinet Plate-Queen Catherine de Medici. Queen of France (1547-1559), Second wife of King Henry IV. Married when they were both just 14 years old, Catherine became known as the black queen due to the nationwide killing spree during her reign, meant to keep her family in power. As a result of her efforts, she would later be the mother of three kings and two queens. This rare plate is beautifully painted, depicting the queen in one of her most royal gowns....the plate has a beautiful 'stepped lip/edge and is quite delicate. The maker's mark on the underside has the IV date code and the Dresden Stamp. Dimensions: H 1.25 x W 10 x D 10 inches Condition: Good
