Antique Hardcover Wallace Memorial Edition of Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace, 1880. - Lewis Wallace (1827-1905) was an American lawyer, Union general in the American Civil War, governor of New Mexico Territory, politician, diplomat, artist, and author from Indiana. Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ is considered the most influential Christian book of the nineteenth century. It became a best-selling American novel, surpassing Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin in sales. The front cover is etched with decorative designs surrounding the title, and the same etchings can be seen on the spine as well. It measures H 7 W 5.5 D 2 inches. Condition: The book is in good condition with some minor wear to the bottom edges of the book. All pages appear to be present and in good condition with no rips or tears.
