Important King Edward VII Broadwood Concert Grand Piano Circa 1879 - Up for bid is this historic Broadwood Grand Piano, made by famed piano makers John Broadwood & Sons Ltd. in 1879. Broadwood Piano Serial number 21,358 The piano was made at their Horseferry Road workshop, Westminster, London on June 19th, 1879. It is a model number 14 grand pianoforte in a rosewood case. Keyboard compass- a to a, retail price of 250 guineas 262 British pounds and 10 shillings. The model 14 is a full-sized concert grand and was their largest and best grand  manufacturer in the year 1879. On February 10th, 1880 the piano was delivered to His Royal Highness Edward The Prince of Wales 1841-1910, to his London address, Marlborough House in the Mall, London SW.   In 1901 when Edward Prince of Wales became King, the piano was moved to his new residence, Buckingham Palace. May 6, 1904 King Edward died in 1910. Shortly after his death, on December 6th 1910 the piano was brought to John Broadwood and Sons storage. On June 1st 1911, the Queen Mother, Her Majesty Queen Alexandra, requested the piano be returned to her. It is suggested it might have been one of her favorite instruments to play and she kept it until her death in 1925. There is no record of what happened to it after this time.
