Rufino Tamayo, Nino Bailando, Dancing Child, Mixografia Print - Ruffino Tamayo (Mexican, 1899-1991) “Nino Bailando” (Child Dancing), 1974 Mixografia Print, measuring H 29.25 W 21.25 in Editioned 42/100 (lower left) Signed lower right “R. Tamayo”. The print features torn edges, float-mounted and surrounded by three non-acid-free mats (the top one being silk covered), and a silver toned wooden frame measuring H 40.5  W 31.25 in The back of the work is covered with a brown dust cover, and has one label at top from a New Orleans frame shop. Published by Taller de Grafica Mexicana in Mexico City, the print is frequently referred to as a “Mixografia”, as opposed to a lithograph or serigraph, and was a collaborative term coined by the artist Tamayo and the Taller de Grafica Mexicana. The printing technique utilizes wax and other materials to create a printing surface that will be three dimensional in the final result.
