Edward J. Basker (1908 - 1972) American - Edward J. Basker (1908 - 1972) Watercolor on paper, signed lower right, measures 10 x 14 and 18.5 x 22.5 inches w/frame. Edward Basker, a native Hoosier from South Bend, Indiana, won his first blue ribbon at the age of six. During his life, Edward would go on to win the outstanding award of the entire exhibition at the Indiana art Salon four out of ten years. Basker was a self-taught artist. His career was honored with many awards including the Ernest M. Memorial Award, 1965, 66 and Hoosier Salon 1954, 56, 58, 59, 62, 64-66. His artwork is in the permanent collections of the following museums: Indiana University; Detroit Museum of Art; Montreal Museum of Art.
