Roger Barron (1938-2017) Oil on board, signed lower left, piece measures 11 x 13.5 and 15 x 19 inches w/ frame. Born in Cincinnati, OH, Barron was a well known, longtime antiques dealer in Boston. He traveled extensively throughout New England sketching and plein air painting.He is best remembered for his colorful, impressionist oil paintings of Cape Ann, MA and Maine.Figural beach scenes in the tradition of Potthast and Charles Woodbury were particularly treasured.He was a member of the North Shore Art Association, Gloucester, MA.He was not known to be handled by many galleries while alive, but many of his beautiful pieces are now gaining increasing attention at auction houses.
