Philip Duane Jamison (1925 - 2021) American - Philip Duane Jamison (1925 - 2021) Watercolor and gouache on board, signed lower left, piece measures 14 x 18 and 21 x 25 inches w/frame. Born in Philadelphia, the watercolorist Philip Duane Jamison, Jr., studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art (which became the Philadelphia College of Art and is now part of the University of the Arts). He eventually became an instructor of watercolor there from 1961 to 1963. He exhibited widely, most notably at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1949 to 1969, and at the National Academy of Design from 1956 to 1971, and won numerous awards. A resident of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jamison was a regionalist artist who painted the local landscape He was awarded membership in the National Academy of Design and the National Watercolor Society and was a contributor to American Artist magazine.
