Joseph Theodore Domareki (Born 1914) Fishermen - Joseph Theodore Domareki (Born 1914) Casein on paper, signed lower right, measures 18 x 13 and 17 x 21 inches w/frame. From New Jersey, Joseph Domareki studied at Newark State College, earning a BA degree in 1937. He served in World War II in the Navy in the Pacific, and also was a combat artist covering campaings in the Gilbert, Caroline, and Marshall Islands.After the war, he earned an MA from the University of Iowa in 1947. He became Chair of the Art Department in 1964 of the School District of South Orange and Maplewood, New Jersey.He was President of the Audubon Artists from 1964 to 1968 and was a member of the National Society of Painters and Sculptors and the National Society of Painters in Casein.He had commissions for numerous hammered lead relief murals, most of them in New Jersey.
