Lucius Rossi (1846–1913) The Hairdressers Visit - Lucius Rossi (1846–1913) An original late 19th-century watercolour on thin artists board, signed lower right ”Rossi” and titled : The Hairdressers Visit. Painting measures 20 x 14 and 28 x 22 nches w/ frame. Beautifully painted rococo-style genre scene by Italian artist. In this engaging historical scene, harking back to the high rococo fashions of the 18th century, Rossi suggests a playfully flirtatious narrative, as a gentleman hairdresser works on the aristocrat womens hair. The theatrical and curvaceous ornamental style of the rococo interior frames the narrative with a sense of drama and romance. Lucius Rossi is known for his attention to detail and delicacy of touch, as well as being an excellent colourist—elements which come together here with great mastery. On thin artist's board.
